How To Get The Storm Damage To Your House Repaired In 6 Easy Steps

Allstate Exteriors • July 26, 2021

When you look up at your roof and realize a storm has damaged it, it’s normal to feel nervous and unsure. Dealing with roof damage is certainly not fun — but it doesn’t have to be terrible, either! With a good roofing company and a step-by-step approach, you can get storm damage repaired and get back to normal. Here are the six steps we follow to make storm damage repair easy on our customers.

Step 1. Schedule a Roofing Inspection

The first step is to call Allstate Exteriors and schedule a roof inspection. It’s hard to evaluate storm damage at a glance. You might see, for example, ten missing shingles when there are 20 more missing shingles and flashing. This is why it’s so important to have a professional take a look. We try to schedule our inspections ASAP to prevent any additional leaks and damage in the meantime.

Step 2. Meet With a Project Manager

When your inspection day arrives, one of our project managers will look over your roof, inside and out. They’ll make detailed notes about the condition, the location of any damage, and the extent of the damage. Our project managers are always open and honest with clients. We won’t exaggerate the extent of the storm damage. We tell it like it is!

Storm damage can come in many different forms. Sometimes, it’s not just missing shingles. You may have flashing peeling off the roof, hail damage, raised nails, or wood deck damage from fallen tree branches. Our project managers will explain each type of storm damage so you have a thorough understanding of what is wrong with your roof.

Step 3. Review the Estimate

After the project manager assesses the damage, they’ll make recommendations for fixing the damage. You’ll receive a detailed estimate which specifies what work needs to be done and how much you can expect to pay for each repair. If you have any questions about the estimate, your project manager will be happy to answer them. Sometimes, there is more than one way storm damage can be addressed. In these cases, the project manager will review each option and its cost and help you choose the best option for your needs and budget.

Step 4. Schedule a Date

Once you understand the repair plan and accept the estimate, you’ll schedule a repair date with our production managers. If we need to tarp the roof or provide any other sort of protection in the meantime, we can. Most roof repairs can be completed in a day. If you have more extensive damage to your roof deck or water damage in the attic, we may schedule your repairs across a two or three-day period.

Step 5. Fix Your Roof

Here’s where the magic happens: we come to fix your roof. Our dependable roofers arrive on-site and make the repairs you discussed with our project manager. This might mean tearing off and replacing some of your shingles. It might mean replacing some of your flashing or drip edges. Every job is different, and we treat each job with the detail and precision it deserves.

With a team of over 30 reliable workers, we can complete repairs quickly and on schedule. Roofing work can be noisy, but in most cases, as long as you are not bothered by the noise, it is safe for you to remain in your home while we work.

Step 6. Complete a Final Walkthrough

This is the step that sets Allstate Exteriors apart from many other roofing companies. It’s the step that has customers coming back again and again. When we are done making repairs to your roof, we take you in a final walkthrough. On this final walkthrough, our production manager or one of our associates will show you each repair done. You can compare the repairs made to those called for in your estimate. We will tell you about the materials used for each repair and point out any issues you should keep an eye out for in the future.

If you have any questions about the repairs, we’ll be happy to answer them during the walkthrough. Our goal is for you to feel safe and secure in your home once again. We know this feeling can be tough to achieve after a particularly rough storm. Discovering your roof has been damaged by a storm can be scary. But if you step back, take a deep breath, and give Allstate Exteriors a call, we will walk with you through the 6-step process above. Before long, your roof will be strong and secure once again. Contact us at the first sign of storm damage. We’re here for you.
